We started November off with a couple unusually warm days. I will gladly take it because I know the moments of trudging through the snow are coming. I took advantage of the warm weather by opting for a vest rather than a jacket. I’ve had this vest for years now and I love how it hasn’t gone out of style. It’s perfect because the back is faux leather instead of fur, so I don’t get too hot while wearing it. A brown faux fur vest is on my list of fashion wants, but I have yet to find one that isn’t too bulky and just the right shade of brown. I’m pretty picky when it comes to certain pieces in my wardrobe.

These boots have also stood the test of time when it comes to style and wear. I bought them from Target about four years ago, I’ve worn them every winter since them, and they still look pretty good. Although, I did notice the other day that they are finally starting to lose their shape a bit (sad face). I would highly recommend getting boots from Target, though, because they are much cheaper than department stores and they still look great and wear great.

Fall and winter are when I really get into wearing lipstick. I instantly feel more put together when I put on some lipstick. This one in particular is a staple in my lineup. It’s the perfect shade of burgundy for my skin tone, and I think it would look great with other skin tones as well. Plus, it’s pretty cheap, and that’s always a plus in my book!

I hope your week is off to a good start!

Denim Jacket

A denim jacket is one of those staple pieces that has never and will never go out of style. At the end of spring, Adam and I went on a date to the nearest mall. I was so excited to find this jean jacket on sale in Banana Republic, one of my absolute favorite stores. One of my favorite styles of tees that I have also happens to come from Banana Republic. I have them in multiple colors, this black one included.

Anyway, I haven’t had a jean jacket since high school! This is mostly because I am extremely picky when it comes to choosing one. I absolutely hate when the arms feel stiff and the length of the jacket is awkwardly short. I also need my denim jacket to be just the right wash. Well, I found my dream jacket at Banana Republic! It has just a little bit of elastic in it, which helps with my need for it to be flexible rather than stiff.  I finally broke it out after waiting four months for the weather to cool. I’m really looking forward to styling it with more outfits. I’ve been looking all over Pinterest for some inspiration and looking through my closet for pieces to pair with it.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. We’re half way to Friday!

Hey, everyone! As you all know, Halloween is quickly approaching. If you’re anything like me, you will be putting your costume together last minute. Props to those who put hours into their costumes and are super creative. I’m a big fan of simplicity and using what I already have in my closet, unless I can find something cheap that will go along with whatever look I’m going for. The hardest part for me is trying to come up with a costume idea that’s easy enough to recreate in a short amount of time. So, I thought it might be helpful to give you guys a couple ideas for last minute costumes that involve pieces you probably already have.

Fallen Leaves

The leaves are quickly falling from the trees. It seems like they transition into beautiful colors and the next day they’re gone. They fall from the trees like snow, and it makes me sad to see the beautiful scenery disappear so quickly. As much as I griped about the impending fall season, I REALLY am not looking forward to winter. There’s nothing like scraping ice off your windshield to make you long for summer’s return.

With that said, I am using the remaining fall colors to my advantage. I couldn’t help but take some pictures in front of the vibrant orange and yellow leaves. Neutral colors are definitely my favorite pieces to style because they are so easy and versatile (duh). I also love wearing these booties because they’re comfier than heels but still give me some height.

Are you looking forward to winter or are you hanging on to the last bits of fall?

Hello

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the wondrous talents of Adele? Her new single “Hello” just dropped and oh my goodness, you guys. This song gives me all the feels. Her voice is epic and beautiful and amazing and on another level altogether. But what’s new? I’ve already been listening  to it on repeat. I’ve always been in love with her voice and her music. We played one of her songs during our wedding ceremony. Needless to say, there is much anticipation for her new album in November. There were quite a few new songs that came out today that I’ve also been replaying. Today was definitely a good day for my Spotify account.

Anyway, remember the other day when I said I wanted to branch out in my style? I feel like this outfit and hairdo is a step in the right direction. Granted, it’s nothing too drastic for me, but I feel just a little bit cooler and edgier. I know I’m late getting into the half-up top knot trend. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first, but I actually really like it!

Overall, you could say I am totally loving this entire look.

Fall Television

Besides the beautiful colors and pumpkin-flavored everything, one thing fall seems to boast is a list of great television shows. It seems like they pull out all the stops when it comes to fall t.v. One of my favorite things is having a television show to follow throughout the season. This year, I have quite a few. So, without further ado, here are my top fall t.v. shows for 2015.

walking-dead-season-5-comic-con-poster-image-widewallpapershd-20-114967

The Walking Dead (AMC Sundays 9/8 c): Adam started watching The Walking Dead before I did, and when I saw how hooked he was I just had to get into it. Now, it’s the sixth season and we tune in every Sunday night. I will say, season five wasn’t very good, in my opinion. I’m a little skeptical about how this season will go, but last week’s episode was pretty good and had us on the edge of our seats.

Dancing_with_the_Stars_Logo.

Dancing with the Stars (ABC Mondays 8/7c): I don’t usually like competition shows, but this season of Dancing with the Stars has been so good! There are quite a few dancers this season that have me glued to my seat each week. Bindi Irwin is by far my favorite, though. Her personality is so upbeat and her optimism is contagious. She is also extremely good at dancing. The past two weeks she’s given jaw-dropping performances, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next week.

Scream Queens (Fox Tuesday 9/8c): Scream Queens is kind of a ridiculous show. It mostly just makes fun of sororities and fraternities while throwing in some scary scenes. It’s kind of hilarious to me. All the jokes they crack and how crazy the characters are is what I like about this show. I also watch the show for the fashion. Chanel’s closet is to die for! I don’t like scary movies, haunted houses, etc., so the amount of scariness in this show is about all I can handle. The humor mixed in definitely helps to ease the fright.

LOGO_Murder-black-and-red-crop

How to Get Away with Murder (ABC Thursdays 10/9c): HTGAWM had me hooked from the beginning. I watched Season 1 pretty quickly when I discovered just how thrilling this show is. I even got my friend hooked on it, too. There’s so much detail in the plot and twists that you never see coming. I will say, it can be pretty heavy sometimes in more ways than one, so beware of that. The storyline of the show just draws you in though, and i look forward to Thursday night every week! Naturally, I’ quite excited for tonight. I highly recommend this show if you enjoy mysteries or crime shows.

The Search is Over

Sweater: Old Navy (similar); Vest: Old Navy (similar and similar); Jeans: LC Lauren ConradBoots: Macy’s (similar and similar); Scarf: Target (similar and similar)

One day last fall, Mandi and I were shopping (as we do), and she bought a plaid blanket scarf from Target. At the time, I just thought, “yeah, that’s cute,” and didn’t really give it a second thought. Then I saw her style it a few different ways. I also saw some bloggers style their similar blanket scarves, and I was hooked! I NEEDED that scarf. However, I couldn’t find it anywhere. By the time I realized how badly I needed that baby in my life, it was already sold out online and in stores.

So, this year I was determined to get my hands on it. I basically stalked Target’s website for two months, only to have my hopes crushed when the blanket scarves came out and my beloved tan scarf was nowhere to be found. Even though I knew they weren’t carrying it, I still checked the scarf section every time I went to Target (which is quite frequently if I’m being honest).

Finally, I was shopping with my mom one day, and I decided to give the scarf section a quick once over. I was looking at the spring scarves when I spotted the familiar plaid print and about had a heart attack. I finally found my precious scarf! It was just randomly laying across the rack and was the only one in the whole display. I ran up to my mom practically shaking from excitement. I just looked on Target’s website and it says the scarf is sold out online and in stores! It’s crazy how popular it is.

I know it’s just a scarf, but there’s just something so satisfying about finally finding something you’ve been on the hunt for. Needless to say, I can’t wait to style this scarf multiple ways. I already have quite a few ideas in my head!
