Life Lately

My beautiful mother and I celebrating Mother’s Day.

Hi everyone! These past couple months have been kind of crazy and a mix of emotions for me. The day after my most recent post, I received a call from my mom that my grandfather wasn’t doing very well. So, the next day I drove down to visit with him and decided to stay with my parents for the remainder of the week to be with him. Sadly, that Friday he passed away. It is the hardest time I’ve ever been through. In a way, though, it was kind of bittersweet. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by his family, and I truly believe he is in heaven now enjoying his time with God. I loved my grandpa dearly, and I felt so loved by him. I miss him so much, but I’m so happy that he is at peace now and experiencing greater things than I could even imagine. The week after his passing was incredibly hard, and I didn’t want to do much of anything.

The next Sunday was Easter, and my family was still taking the loss pretty hard, so we decided to have just a quiet day with church and then lunch at our place.  I was really looking forward to the upcoming weekend because Adam and I were going to stay with one of his old college roommates and his wife. That weekend was a blast! The weather was beautiful the entire time we were there. We grilled outside, played cornhole, and watched buggy races (hard to describe if you haven’t seen one). It reminded me of all the times I went to visit him when we were in school. I always thoroughly enjoy hanging out with his friends because they are such great people and we always have fun when we’re with them.

Beautiful scenery to admire while we stayed in the city.

Overall, I’ve just been enjoying time with my husband and the rest of my family. Of course, I enjoyed celebrating Mother’s Day this past Sunday. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful, caring, loving mother! I really needed some family time, especially after everything that happened at the end of March. To be honest, I haven’t been dressing up or anything lately, so I didn’t really have anything to post anyway. I hope you all can understand, and I would love any suggestions for posts you would like to see in the future. I hope you are enjoying the beautiful spring/summer weather!

P.S. How cute is the new banner for this blog?! One of our friends, Bri, is a graphic designer and custom-made it for me! She was so awesome to work with and listened to every detail. You can find some of her work here.
