So far 2017 is kicking my butt. As I mentioned in my last post, Adam and I kicked off the year pretty sick. Then last week we both got our wisdom teeth out…yes, on the same day. That was pretty interesting to say the least. And by interesting I mean I never want to do something like that again. Needless to say, it’s been quite a process trying to recover, and we’re still not fully there yet. But we’re pushing through, thus a new outfit post.

Ladies, the idea of packing away our white clothing after labor day has been tossed out the window! I love the idea of white, cream, and ivory hues in the winter. It looks so fresh and clean, especially when there is snow on the ground. I think the trick is to find pieces that aren’t BRIGHT white, otherwise they will look too summery in the cold months. I tend to reach for dark clothes in the wintertime, as I’m sure most of us do, but I’ve been trying to make it a point to reach for my light colored clothing as well to brighten up the dull and dreary days of winter.

Little Red Sweater

Hi guys! You know when you have your whole day, week, or even month planned out, and then life hits you in the face and you’re like “Oh, yeah. Who was I kidding?” Well, yeah, that’s pretty much what happened to me at the beginning of this month. I had all these great plans and posts for the blog and then Adam and I got really sick and were basically out of commission for two weeks. That combined with a couple other little things, and, well, all my plans went down the drain. But you know, that’s the way life is sometimes, and it’s ok. I’m really trying to schedule my days out so that I can maximize my time, but I’m also trying to take life as it comes and adjust to the unpredictability that it brings sometimes. I think you have to find a good balance between the two in order to stay sane.

But anyway, on to the outfit! Because that’s all we really care about, right? I’ve been wanting a basic, red cable knit sweater for sooo long! I could never find one that was quite right though…until one day I went to Target (of course) and found this one! I (not-so-subtley) took a picture of it and sent it to my dear husband as a “hint, hint” for a Christmas gift. Needless to say I was totally surprised to open it Christmas morning. It’s like he read my mind! I instantly had so many outfits planned in my head for wearing it, and this was one of the first ones. I think you guys know by now how much I adore this read lipstick, which I might have said in a previous post (or two..or three). Those two, paired with a blanket scarf and messy half top knot, made for a great look and feel. Of course, I had to include my favorite girl in this post because…well…look at her. That face kills me! Hope you guys are having a great 2017 so far!

Fall Favorites Under $50

Sweater / Scarf / Hat / Cardigan /Pants / TunicSkirt

“Fall favorites under fifty.” Say that five times. Fall always resurfaces my shopping itch. I just love the colors, patterns, and styles so much! However, I don’t have all the money in the world to splurge on the beautiful fall pieces I see. So I found some pieces under $50 that I love just as much. I’m hoping to add a couple of them to my wardrobe soon. I also want to go thrifting for some cozy sweaters before the cold weather really hits us. Hope you guys have a great day!

You can never go wrong with a chambray shirt. They’re a great alternative to a denim jacket when it’s still a little warm out. I recently got this one toward the end of summer. I also got these booties on a killer deal last fall. I’d been looking for a pair of tan wedge booties, as you may recall from this post. They are so, so comfortable which is amazing because you can have the chicness of wearing heels without the inevitable pain they usually bring. I’ve got my eye on the same pair but in black. I’ve been counting down the days until I could break out these babies. You can be sure I’ll be wearing these shoes on repeat this fall and winter. What item have you been looking forward to wearing?

Cold Shoulder Dress

Dress: Nordstrom Rack (similar); Belt: Kohl’s (similar); Shoes: Dillard’s (similar); Necklace: Target (similar)

I’m just going to start this post by saying I LOVE THIS DRESS! I am a sucker for anything cold shoulder, and the fact that these sleeves are flared and flowy is a total bonus. The material has a smooth feel that was nice and lightweight on the extremely hot day I wore it. I also really love the coloring on this dress because it makes it versatile for any time of the year. You have the dark colors for fall and winter and the brighter floral pattern for spring and summer. The silhouette is also very flattering. I chose to add a belt to make it more form fitting, but you could leave it unbelted for a nice casual feel. If I could buy this dress in a million colors and patterns, I totally would!

As the weather cools down, we’re all starting to break out our sweaters. I’m always on the lookout for new sweaters to add to my (excessive) collection, so I put together some basic ones that would be great in any wardrobe. I’d love to know which one is your favorite!

I haven’t been thrifting since about four years ago when I wrote this post. It’s not that I don’t like thrifting, I just never seem to have much luck when I go. About a month ago, Mandi and I went to one of the local thrift stores and I found this dress and was immediately in love. I ended up not buying it at the time, but a couple weeks later we went back on a whim and it was still there! I was so excited and grabbed it as soon as we walked in. I love the colors and pattern on it, but most of all I absolutely adore the cut out in the back and the slight flare in the sleeves. When I first tried the dress on, I knew it would look great in the summer with some wedges or even flip flops. I also think it will look great in the colder months with a pair of tights and knee-high boots. Honestly, I think you could even dress it up a bit with some suede booties and a top knot. Finding this dress gave me some encouragement to try thrifting more often. I actually have some ideas in mind for upcoming blog posts with thrifting so stay tuned!
