Last year Adam and I were traveling on Valentine’s Day, so we had to celebrate a few days later. We quickly realized that’s the way to celebrate Valentine’s Day because you get great deals on all the flowers, candy, cards, and gifts! Plus, restaurants aren’t nearly as crowded since all the happy couples tend to go out the day of. So, this past weekend we had our Valentine’s date night. I was so excited because I’ve been saving this outfit for our dinner date. Naturally as soon as I bought this skirt I thought of Valentine’s day because of its beautiful berry color. I wore it for Christmas Eve too with a black top and it looked just as beautiful! I’ve been wanting a fluffy tulle skirt for soooo long now. They’re so girly and fun! I’ve seen quite a few girls dress them down with a graphic tee and some sneakers, but I’m not quite sure I could pull that off. When I wear it I feel so fancy, though, so I tend to gravitate toward a pair of heels anyway. Funny enough, I felt pretty “extra” because I ended up wearing it to a sports bar at one point. I was joking with Mandi that if wearing a glorified tutu to a sports bar didn’t describe me perfectly, I don’t know what would. I like to keep it casually classy and chic. 😉

How was your Valentine’s day? Or did you celebrate Galentine’s with your girlfriends? Either way, I hope it was great!

Suede Dress

This outfit. You guys. Oh my gooosshhh. I absolutely love outfits that incorporate different shades of the same color. That is one of the many reason why I am so in love with this outfit. Brown and tan and gold, oh my! You would not believe the awesome steal I got on this dress! I’m talking less than $9 people! And no, it was not thrifted. I had been eyeing it for quite some time (I’m talking over six months), and it finally went on super sale during the summer. I snatched it up quickly and patiently waited for the first chilly day I could don it with my cream turtleneck. This is one of those outfits that just puts a little pep in my step and makes me feel really good about myself. I think it’s the combination of feeling a little more dressed up than normal and also wearing some of my favorite shades for my coloring. As soon as I saw this dress way back when I knew there would be a multitude of outfits I could style with it and I can’t wait to wear them all! Hope you guys are having an awesome Friday!

Layered Dress

Dress: H&M (similar); Denim Jacket: Banana Republic (similar); Booties: Old Navy (similar); Necklace: Charming Charlie (similar); Purse: Lauren Ralph LaurenBracelets: Wet Seal (similar) and Alex + Ani; Sunglasses: Target

Even though I love the look of booties with dresses, this was actually the first time I tried my hand at this trend. I received quite a few compliments on it, so you can bet I’ll be pairing them with dresses more often. You probably recognize this dress from this post. I told you I’d be transitioning it into the fall! This outfit would be great for a day out with the girls or brunch with your man. Heck, I even ran a couple errands in this outfit when I wore it. These booties are comfortable enough for some walking, and who doesn’t love a comfy dress to just throw on and go? The dress I linked above is the same exact dress, but it’s not available in the olive color anymore. I’d recommend it anyway because it is so, so, so comfortable! Anyway, hope you have a great weekend. Happy Friday!

Cold Shoulder Dress

Dress: Nordstrom Rack (similar); Belt: Kohl’s (similar); Shoes: Dillard’s (similar); Necklace: Target (similar)

I’m just going to start this post by saying I LOVE THIS DRESS! I am a sucker for anything cold shoulder, and the fact that these sleeves are flared and flowy is a total bonus. The material has a smooth feel that was nice and lightweight on the extremely hot day I wore it. I also really love the coloring on this dress because it makes it versatile for any time of the year. You have the dark colors for fall and winter and the brighter floral pattern for spring and summer. The silhouette is also very flattering. I chose to add a belt to make it more form fitting, but you could leave it unbelted for a nice casual feel. If I could buy this dress in a million colors and patterns, I totally would!

Thrifted Find

Dress: Thrifted (similar and similar); Shoes: Marshalls (similar); Watch: Anne KleinNecklace: Old Navy (similar); Belt: Target (similar)

I haven’t been thrifting since about four years ago when I wrote this post. It’s not that I don’t like thrifting, I just never seem to have much luck when I go. About a month ago, Mandi and I went to one of the local thrift stores and I found this dress and was immediately in love. I ended up not buying it at the time, but a couple weeks later we went back on a whim and it was still there! I was so excited and grabbed it as soon as we walked in. I love the colors and pattern on it, but most of all I absolutely adore the cut out in the back and the slight flare in the sleeves. When I first tried the dress on, I knew it would look great in the summer with some wedges or even flip flops. I also think it will look great in the colder months with a pair of tights and knee-high boots. Honestly, I think you could even dress it up a bit with some suede booties and a top knot. Finding this dress gave me some encouragement to try thrifting more often. I actually have some ideas in mind for upcoming blog posts with thrifting so stay tuned!

Style Rut

Top: Forever 21 (similar and similar); Skirt: Forever 21 (similar); Shoes: Marshalls (similar); Necklace: Old Navy (similar)

You probably recognize these shoes. They are the exact same as the brown ones I’ve been wearing but in black (obviously). I’ve been rotating them with the brown ones as much as possible. I actually haven’t worn this skirt in forever because I was stuck in one of those styling ruts where it seemed like the skirt didn’t go with anything in my closet. Funny enough, I was trying to style an outfit and told Adam I wanted to wear a skirt and he picked this one and said it would look good with some kind of black shirt. Obviously I was in a MAJOR styling rut since I couldn’t even come up with that myself – cue the eye roll. I’m so in love with this outfit, though, and I want to wear it basically any time I leave my house. I can’t wait to swap out the wedges for some booties when the weather gets cooler, which it’s starting to already! Hope you all had a great week! I’d love to hear any exciting plans you might have for the weekend! I’m super, super, super, super, super (and so many more super’s) excited because I get to see my best friend for the first time in TWO years tomorrow!! AHHHH! Ok, I’m done now.

Olive You a Lot

greendress

Dress: H&M (similar); Shoes: Marshall’s (similar and similar); Belt: Target (similar); Clutch: Tory Burch (similar);  Earrings: Chico’s (similar); Watch: Anne Klein

Something you may or may not know about me is that I love corny puns…so I just couldn’t pass up the title. Anyway, I wasn’t kidding when I told you guys I’d be wearing these comfy shoes as much as possible. This olive green dress from H&M is also extremely comfortable and a great staple piece for any girl’s wardrobe. As I mentioned before, I went on a shopping trip for my birthday. I really tried to make sure I purchased items that were versatile, and this dress is exactly what I was looking for. In fact, I purchased it in two different colors. It’s a nice, light cotton material that was great for the heat of summer but will also be easy to layer in the fall. Stay tuned for an autumn outfit remix with this dress!
