Last year Adam and I were traveling on Valentine’s Day, so we had to celebrate a few days later. We quickly realized that’s the way to celebrate Valentine’s Day because you get great deals on all the flowers, candy, cards, and gifts! Plus, restaurants aren’t nearly as crowded since all the happy couples tend to go out the day of. So, this past weekend we had our Valentine’s date night. I was so excited because I’ve been saving this outfit for our dinner date. Naturally as soon as I bought this skirt I thought of Valentine’s day because of its beautiful berry color. I wore it for Christmas Eve too with a black top and it looked just as beautiful! I’ve been wanting a fluffy tulle skirt for soooo long now. They’re so girly and fun! I’ve seen quite a few girls dress them down with a graphic tee and some sneakers, but I’m not quite sure I could pull that off. When I wear it I feel so fancy, though, so I tend to gravitate toward a pair of heels anyway. Funny enough, I felt pretty “extra” because I ended up wearing it to a sports bar at one point. I was joking with Mandi that if wearing a glorified tutu to a sports bar didn’t describe me perfectly, I don’t know what would. I like to keep it casually classy and chic. 😉

How was your Valentine’s day? Or did you celebrate Galentine’s with your girlfriends? Either way, I hope it was great!

Surprise, surprise. I’m wearing something else animal print. Oh well! Also, my mom and I both have this shirt. I love her a lot, though, so I don’t mind one bit.

We’re still visiting with family, and so far this week has been great. It’s always so nice to see family you haven’t seen in a long time. Our wedding last year was awesome because we had so much family in from out of town and most of them we hadn’t seen in years. All the relatives had a ball reminiscing and just being with each other after so many years. Family is so important!

I hope everyone is having a great week.

A few years ago, Adam and I visited Washington D.C. Ever since then, it has been one of my absolute favorite places I’ve been to. It’s so beautiful, and there are so many amazing places to visit and sites to see. The Capitol is a wonderful place to visit. Just the architecture of it alone can leave you awestruck. I’m not much of a history buff, but I love learning about all of the important people and events that have come through Washington D.C.

We recently visited the nation’s capital for a day and got to explore the National Mall a bit. We also saw the Supreme Court, and we were lucky enough to stay within a couple blocks of the White House. I never get tired of this city and all of the wonderful sites it has to offer. One of our friends lives in Washington D.C., and it was great to hang out with him! He showed us a great view of the White House and took us to dinner at a place that had some really exquisite food. Even though we could only stay for a day, we had a great time and are already planning our next trip back!

The Calm Before the Storm

As I’ve mentioned before, I absolutely love the rain, especially thunderstorms. There’s something so peaceful to me in the sound of raindrops falling steadily and thunder rumbling in the distance. We had a really dry July where I live, and today brought the first thunderstorm in about a month. It was so calming to hear the thunder and the rain outside. I’m certainly going to be sad as fall approaches and thunderstorms begin to dwindle.

I know you guys have seen this top in this post and this one as well, but I just love it so much! And here’s the thing, I have a good amount of clothes, I’ll admit, but not enough to the point where I don’t repeat outfits. Sure, I’d love to be one of those bloggers who is always sporting a new piece in every post, but that’s not reality for a lot of us. And besides, we all have those key pieces that are our favorites to wear! This shirt happens to be one of mine. I love wearing white, and the style of this top is one of my favorites to wear. I also love these nude flats because they’re super comfortable and look great with just about anything.

What’s your favorite piece to wear?

When I was in 5th grade, my homeroom teacher would get us all together on Friday mornings and we would shout “Hey yins guys! It’s Friday!” as loud as we could so the whole hallway could hear us. Every time I say “It’s Friday!” I always hear that in my head. Good times, good times.

Anyways, it’s Friday, guys! The possibilities are endless for the next two and a half days. Adam and I are kicking off our weekend with some grilling and a little bit of shopping. Just my kind of night! Even though I love going out to dinner, sometimes the best nights are spent in just enjoying each other’s company and some home cooked food. As he was outside grilling and I was inside cooking up some side dishes, I was reminded of just how blessed we are with the life God has provided us. Some days may be quiet and routine, but I’m perfectly content with that. I have a roof over my head, a loving husband, a great family on both sides, and anything I could possibly need. God truly blesses all of us, even in the smallest of ways. It’s so important to remember how good He is to us, even in quiet times.

Our weekend is shaping up to be pretty quiet, and I’m good with that. We’ve had a busy couple of weeks, so a little R & R sounds pretty nice right now. I love being busy, but I can only handle so much sometimes before it gets overwhelming. Are any of you like that? I see some people who are constantly on the go and I have no idea how they do it. Where does all that energy come from? Having a weekend with no plans whatsoever is just what Adam and I need right now.

What are you guys up to this weekend? I’d love to hear any plans you might have or fun activities you might be doing. I hope your weekend is filled with good times and happiness!

A Hint of Warmer Weather

Hi, friends! It’s been a while. I kind of went into hibernation when the cold weather hit. Winter is no joke where we live, and the thought of going outside to take pictures of my outfits did not sound appealing in the least bit. I really admire the bloggers who go out in snowy tundras in skirts and tights and take amazing pictures. Well, we’re finally starting to see the beginning of spring, and it is seriously wonderful. I want to crack the windows open when it’s only 50 degrees here. I’m desperate! I really don’t enjoy wearing coats, so when the weather starts to get warm, I’m a big fan of layering up with light sweaters and vests. I also wanted to brighten up my look with this beautiful light pink sweater. I can’t wait until I can ditch the vest and wear short sleeves again! I hope you all are getting excited for spring and the months to come!

Honeymoon Fashion

photo 2-2

As I mentioned in my last post, we were blessed enough to travel to Hawaii for our honeymoon. It is by far the most amazing and beautiful place I have ever seen, and I’m sure Adam would agree. As soon as he told me we were going to Hawaii, I began brainstorming about the many possibilities of outfits I could bring with me. Often times when I go shopping, I just pick up random pieces I think might be nice to add to my wardrobe; however, I told myself that for this trip I would be following the method of buying in outfits rather than individual pieces. This also made packing much easier because I knew immediately what top went with what bottoms. I don’t know if having three pairs of the same shorts but in varying colors is a bit excessive, but let me tell you, these shorts were so comfortable and light for the hot days spent on the island. I also got them for a steal. I picked up the navy and pink pairs while shopping with my mom, and they were about $7. A couple days later, I saw they had been reduced to $5 so of course I decided to get one more pair, and I ended up with the olive green color. With the shorts in mind, I purchased the tops and the dress while I was shopping with Mandi. I loved every single piece and all of the bright colors, especially in the dress. I didn’t end up taking the last outfit with me, but I certainly wish I had. Our honeymoon was so amazing. To be honest, I feel as though words can’t even describe how wonderful it really was. We talk almost every day about how much we miss it. I’d love to know if and where you went on vacation this year and what was your favorite outfit you wore?
